Located in a conservation area, Corstorphine + Wright’s scheme sees a redundant brownfield office site being reused to provide a new high density, seven storey residential development. Planning permission has been granted for 60 luxury one and two bedroom apartments and 11 one, two and three bedroom social units. Completion of construction is anticipated for summer 2011.
Designed to meet the Code for Sustainable Homes level 3 the building has a number of sustainable features including good natural daylighting to all rooms, high levels of insulation to help reduce heat loss and a biomass [wood pellet] renewable energy heating system designed to supply 40% of the annual heating requirement and reduce carbon emissions by 20%.
