“Many projects lay claim to be transformational, but the Council House Derby truly is.”

The Derby City Council Offices have won the refurbished and recycled category of the BCO National Award, which promotes best practice in all aspects of the office sector.

The facade of the locally listed 1930s building was retained and the roofline maintained, but underwent a complete revamp so it could accommodate almost four times as many employees. The refurbished building additionally achieved cutting-edge sustainability credentials (BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC ‘A’) by including a hydroelectric power plant, river water-cooling, photovoltaic panels and solar thermal panels.
