With just over three months to go, the Velo Birmingham bike race on 24th September looms ever nearer! After some procrastination and disorganisation amongst the riders, they managed to gather four of them together for their first training session…and what a ride!
On Saturday 17th June they cycled across their surrounding area, taking in stunning views and undulating country lanes. Given that temperatures reached 30 degrees Celsius (the warmest June day on record since 1976!) they put in such a tremendous effort. Covering an immense 58 miles in their first training session, it took Dan the furthest he has ever cycled and more than doubled the distance previously ridden by Richard. After such a triumphant start in the saddle and with more training sessions booked in, they stopped off for a well-deserved drink at a gorgeous pub en route to reenergize and fuel up for the journey home!
