Fundraising for Marie Curie since December ’16 has kept Corstorphine + Wright incredibly busy! Our target to raise £7,500 between December 2016 and December 2017 is looking within our reach. Read on to find out how we are getting on.

We got off to a flying start for our first company-wide fundraiser, hosting several events in the approach to Christmas. The ubiquitous Christmas Jumper Day proved colourful in all offices, resulting in some hysterical photos and £209 for Marie Curie!

Our Christmas Party was incredible – we were spoiled with a fabulous three-course supper at Cote Brasserie and an evening in the Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar, which understandably resulted in a huge sale of raffle tickets…  People were vying to take home a brand new Xbox 1 (Amrita Birring (accounts) and Spencer John (architect) won) which raised a phenomenal £467! With the company donation we raised an absolutely stunning £1,230 in just two weeks!

Feeling the pinch after Christmas we needed an effective method of fundraising with little personal expenditure. Jemma Bonner at Marie Curie came to the rescue; she told us all about Stock Our Shops (SOS)! This quick and simple technique involves people raiding their homes to empty out all clothing, books, and a multitude of unused products. With each bag worth a fantastic £20 it is the best way we have seen so far at raising money with little effort – who doesn’t love a fresh wardrobe?! Three collections have taken place so far and together we have accumulated an absolutely staggering £920 which has already been delivered to shops and is supporting Marie Curie.

In March we chose a quiz to be our first larger event. A huge thank you is due to St Patrick’s Irish Club, Leamington Spa ( and The Iron Duke, Mayfair (@TheIronDukeW1) who donated the use of their venue. With the drinks and pizza devoured, both venues were filled with staff who tried their absolute best! After twelve rounds of brutal questions and a raffle of prizes donated by local businesses* the evenings raised £352!

Every year Marie Curie host their Great Daffodil Appeal which is always popular. Culminating with the nationwide Wear Yellow Day (and a huge bake sale in Stourbridge) there was £129.29 donated in just one day.

Marie Curie hosts organised events, and we selected the Swimathon. Sarah Breedon (Marketing Manager) and Nicola Buckley (Architect) each swam 2.5k, finishing this incredible feat in 2:01 and raised an impressive £265 – we’re so proud of our staff!

With everything that has been taking place across our offices since December, we are SO proud to announce that our current total currently stands at… £3,077.29!!!

Our target of £7,500 for the year is looking within our reach and as a company Corstorphine + Wright are proud to fundraise for the amazing Marie Curie. The service they provide is absolutely invaluable and every single donation goes a great way to helping them help others.

The next update will be out at the end of August – keep an eye out for what we’ve been up to over the summer! Please follow us on Instagram (corstorphinewright) and Twitter (@CWrightarch) for all updates!
