Nearly 80% of the 320,000sqft of retail space on offer has now been pre-let or is under offer at the new £64 million Whiteley Shopping  Centre which is due to open in Spring 2013; one of only two shopping centres due to open next year.

The Whiteley Co-Ownership Trust are pleased with the strong demand for their retail space and believe that the scheme has the right combination of high quality space, affordable rents and a desirable location.

The three Anchor stores committed to the scheme are: M&S (60,000sqft), Next (19,500sqft) and the existing Tesco foodstore. Other big retail names who have already pre-let space include: Boots (12,300sqft), H&M (18,200sqft), River Island (6,354sqft), Costa (2,200sqft) and Frankie and Benny’s (4,000sqft), to name but a few.

The designs intent from the outset was to provide a high quality retail environment more akin to a top shopping centre than a retail park in order to attract the target market. This included the desire to achieve a distinctive look and feel to the retail units through the use of 12m clear structural grid and 7m high full width structural glazing for the retail frontages.

The first block to handover for tenant fitting out is due to be complete on 5th November 2012.
