Working with Extra MSA Group, Architecture519 (now Corstorphine + Wright, Leeds) has prepared proposals for a £50m ‘new concept’ Motorway Service Area (MSA). Leeds Skelton Lake Services is located at the Gateway to the Leeds Enterprise Zone at Junction 45 of the M1 in Leeds.

The proposal includes an innovative Facilities Building, which will provide a wide range of popular and high quality food and ancillary retail outlets, together with a Business Centre, housed beneath a curved timber roof structure, a Fuel Filling Station and Hotel. The scheme has been submitted as an outline planning application to Leeds City Council to be determined late 2016.

The high-quality building design features a sweeping ribbon roof structure that will tie its ‘living green roof’ into the landscape. Internally this will create a visually exciting and spacious building interior which will include a new Visitor Centre, community space and an upper-floor viewing deck overlooking Skelton Lake.
