Mid Sussex District Council has approved plans for a £65 million scheme by NewRiver Retail to revitalise the Martlets Shopping Centre in Burgess Hill.

Designed by Corstorphine + Wright, the development will include a 10 screen Cineworld Cinema, a 63 bed Travelodge hotel, 142 residential units, a purpose-built modern library and an additional 50,000 square feet of retail space.

The designs will provide a modern shopping environment with a wide range of shops to draw customers during the day, whilst new restaurants and cafes, along with a Cineworld cinema will create a lively night time economy.

The redevelopment includes larger shop units to attract the big name fashion retailers that are currently under represented in the town.
