Corstorphine + Wright was appointed to prepare a Feasibility Report to achieve funding for the creation of a proposed Post 16 Centre at Heathcote School and Science College in Chingford, Essex.
The client required a brand new state of the art facility situated on a challenging site in the corner of the existing school grounds, which would respond to the educational, social and economic challenges of the future.
The appointment developed into a lead consultant role, delivering architectural, landscape and interior design and taking a leading position in stakeholder consultations.
Our design is a flexible and adaptable scheme which creates a vibrant addition to the school and community while providing a contemporary and inspirational base for the delivery of a Post 16 curriculum.
Designed to accommodate up to 250 learners, the facility is a landmark building of sustainable construction, with the potential for future expansion into the school grounds.
As well as general classroom provision, the building provides a variety of additional services which includes music teaching and recording facilities, a dedicated science room, and a hair and beauty suite. The Post 16 Centre will offer both academic and vocational courses and will be accessible for the local community.
The team prepared the (LSC) funding bid for this project in four weeks, advising on SCAPE to deliver a fast track procurement route and the project was delivered on time and to budget within tight timescales.
“As students come to view the building for next year’s intake the words ‘Wow’, ‘Amazing’ and ‘I want to come here’ are frequently heard” – Zoe Cozens, Headteacher
