Local Services Centre

In the heart of Stoke on Trent, Stoke Local Service Centre is a state of the art information building which signals the start of a regeneration programme for the town.

Corstorphine + Wright have worked closely in partnership with the City of Stoke to deliver the building from inception to completion, coordinating and managing the design process to provide a highly sustainable, exemplar building that demonstrates the use of low to zero carbon technology and considered passive design measures.

The building minimises the demand for energy by providing natural ventilation, good day lighting and high levels of insulation and has achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’.

Alongside the inclusion of a Sedum nature roof, sunpipes, wind catchers, energy efficient lighting, PIR taps and dual flush toilets, the project also incorporated ground source heat pumps, photovoltaic panels, solar thermal panels and rainwater harvesting, via additional funding for the project secured from the Carbon Trust.
