This smaller scale office development built on stilts on the banks of the River Leam demonstrates that it is possible for a project of any size to both incorporate sustainable measures into its design – with Domer Place achieving a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating – and secure recognition for it.
Set within a conservation area, the building was designed to be sympathetic to and protect the existing character of the riverbank.
One of the more unusual and yet key sustainable technologies incorporated into the site is the innovative ‘louvre’ system fitted in the basement. This enables any flood water to be accommodated and channelled back into the river rather than encroaching into the rest of the building.
