Corstorphine & Wright is pleased to share that planning approval has been granted for the refurbishment of Plymouth House, a former British Telecoms building located in the heart of Bath. This scheme, in collaboration with Avon & Somerset Police, marks a significant step towards creating a modern and efficient policing hub that will enhance public safety and operational effectiveness in the city.
Plymouth House is set to centralise key operational and administrative functions for Avon & Somerset Police. The project aims to transform the currently vacant building into a modern, secure and resilient facility that strengthens the police’s ability to serve and safeguard the community.
The refurbishment includes:
- Energy Efficiency Enhancements: Upgrades to the building fabric to reduce its environmental footprint and improve sustainability.
- Improved Security Measures: Modifications to ensure the safety of building users and the resilience of police operations.
- Operational Centralisation: Consolidating teams in one location to foster collaboration and streamline operations.
Plymouth House’s central location makes it a highly accessible facility for both the community and the police force. The proposals includes the existing refurbished building, associated secure car park, and cycle storage, ensuring ample space for operational needs.
Once completed, the refurbished facility will replace the existing operations at Lewis House and Redbridge House, both of which will remain functional during the transition. This centralisation will offer a more effective and responsive service to the local community.
This refurbishment represents an exciting milestone for Bath, bringing a disused building back to life and enhancing community safety. We look forward to seeing the transformation of Plymouth House and the positive impact it will have on the city.
