By Suzanne Ross – 18th January 2018

This morning at Birmingham City Council’s planning committee, our Lunar Rise development plans were given the green light.

Corstorphine + Wright designed the scheme on behalf of Prosperous Global China Capital’s which will be their first development in the UK.

The design consists of two ten-storey residential blocks and one 25-storey tower comprising more than 500 apartments with a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. In addition, there will be commercial units on the ground floor, parking for 153 cars and secure bike space for all residents.

The site is known as Lunar Rise, in recognition of the city’s historic Lunar Society, a group of 19th century polymaths who used to meet in Birmingham on the Monday nearest to the full moon.

Planning officers said prior to the planning committe: “Digbeth is changing and the proposed development would help its further regeneration, providing much needed housing and a large investment on this area”

Work on site will begin later in 2018.
