Cambridge City Council planning committee has approved plans for a new 153-room Premier Inn hotel and urban park at The Grafton. Alongside the city centre located hotel, significant public realm improvements will be undertaken which include a new urban park adjacent to the existing cinema and improvements to transport routes which aim to act as a catalyst for the greening and visual improvement of this part of the city centre.

In 2015 L&G acquired the site, which is adjacent to The Grafton and it has since been project managed by Wrenbridge who together have undertaken a major £28m refurbishment programme to reinvigorate the retail and leisure offering, increase footfall and improve the overall visitor experience of the centre.

In addition and in partnership with the City Council, the Grafton Area SPD (a masterplan for The Grafton area) has been developed outlining the vision for further future development. The hotel is the next stage of the masterplan helping meet increasing demands for hotel accommodation in Cambridge.

With planning approved, work will begin imminently.
