The Council House, Derby, came up as the front-runner at the British Council of Offices West Midlands Awards Last Thursday (10.04.2014).

Derby City Council’s impressive new accommodation, designed by Corstorphine + Wright, won the Refurbished / Recycled Workplace Award; the judges commented that The finished result of the refurbishment of this locally listed 1930s building is absolutely fantastic and melds the old and the new together seamlessly’.

The Council House also won the Regional Nomination for the BCO National Innovation Award which takes into consideration a significant level of innovation in one or more fields. The judges observed that The Council House ‘significantly demonstrates outstanding design and refurbishment throughout……and  boasts an innovative approach towards renewable energy systems….. which highlights Derby Council House’s exemplar presence of sustainable design that is further commended through an impressive BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and a -25 EPC A+ rating’.

The Council House will go up against other Regional Winners for this award later in the year.
