The new Customer First Centre combines library facilities, a customer service suite, public access computers and community facilities, all under one roof.

The facility has been open since February, and has proved a huge success with more than 20,000 people having already used its facilities, nearly 9,000 people have borrowed a book, and over 400 new library members have been welcomed.

The library was officially opened on Friday by Mary Glindon, MP for North Tyneside, who was joined by Wallsend-born actress Charlie Hardwick, who is best known for her role as Val Pollard in ITV’s Emmerdale.

This is part of the first phase of of NewRiver’s major redevelopment plans for the Forum Shopping Centre. The redevelopment has significantly revitalised the streetscene with the introduction of bold and innovative architectural features.
